We heard a few weeks ago that Hedi Slimane wanted to change the way people thought of Yves Saint Laurent. How ludicrous? Reports surfaced that it would change to Saint Laurent Paris. This week it has now been reported that the new name will only apply to their beauty line and their ready-to-wear collections. Perhaps Hedi get a bit of a talking to for being a too extreme? I think it is all hell of a confusing and as for poor Yves Saint Laurent – he must be spinning in his grave!
According to the publication, bosses at the fashion house see the change as a way of “restoring the house to its truth, purity and essence — and taking it into a new era while respecting the original principles and ideals.”
It’s not the first time Hedi has organized a major shake-up in a fashion house. He previously worked in the menswear area of Christian Dior and changed the name from Christian Dior Monsieur to Dior Homme in 2001.
