The Civil Ceremony

I have been meaning to show you what I wore to our civil ceremony in France. But first I need to explain how lucky I was to have TWO weddings that week! The civil wedding on the Tuesday and the more formal wedding (which took place in the church) the day after. This is just how it works in France. The Mayor of Menerbes married us, and let me just add that he was the producer of all the famous Emmanuelle films!

Anyway, I dont want to go into too much detail except to say that it was such a beautiful day spent with our best friends from all over the world and beloved family. I wore a kaftan (from Popyacollar Shop), a big floppy hat from Woolworths and shoes from Coast and Koi which I designed myself!

My idea for what to wear that day was always going to be French Riviera, so my love affair with kaftans just made it so easy. It all started when I was reading a Vogue on a Sunday afternoon on my iPad a couple of months back; when I spotted this pic of a lady lying on a couch with a hat. Ever since then, it has been the thought of that pic which has dictated how I put the look together! All my friends are obsessed with Madwa clutches at the mo, so seeing them in abundance in the little village called Menerbes on the day was so much fun! Will show you pics of the wedding dress later this week ;-)

Love the kaftan! Also have a love affair with them, bought a bright orange one last year intended for the beach. and have worn it umpteen times to places other than the beach – great price-per-wear item!

Stunning! Also love a kaftan. BTW, the lady on the couch is Princess Margaret in her heyday in Mustique. I have loved this photo forever. Great minds ;)
